Engine temperature sensor/indicator check VR6

♦ Disconnect the wire from the temperature sensor and measure its electrical resistance by connecting an ohmmeter between the sensor terminal and ground.
Sensor resistance is inversely proportional to engine temperature. The higher the engine temperature, the lower the resistance of the sensor. The reason for incorrect messages about the actual temperature of the engine of the Transporter T4 may also be the indicator on the instrument panel.
To check, disconnect the wire from the sensor, turn on the ignition and short the end of the wire to the body. The temperature indicator needle should move to the "hot" position. Short the wire to ground for a short time so as not to damage the indicator. After the end of the test, turn off the ignition and connect the wire to the sensor.
