Engine lubrication system VR6

the Volkswagen Transporter T4 closed circuit lubrication system .
The gear oil pump, driven by the countershaft, is located at the bottom of the crankcase. The oil cooler, which is supplied with coolant from the cooling system, is located above the oil filter. As a feature of this engine, a collapsible oil filter can be called.
Approximately 6 liters of engine oil are poured into the engine (5 liters are in the engine and 1 liter is in the filter). Always change the filter when changing the oil in your car. Replacing the filter without changing the engine oil has little effect. The cylinder block lubrication system is equipped with a non-return valve to prevent engine oil from returning to the crankcase, as well as oil nozzles to supply oil from below to the pistons.
The valve and nozzles are the only parts of the engine lubrication system that can only be changed by removing the engine. All other parts of the engine lubrication system can be removed and installed without dismantling the engine from the car. On fig. 176 shows the oil pump along with the drive shaft and intermediate shaft, which is used to drive the input shaft.
