Removal and installation of the oil sump VR6
The oil sump of the Transporter T4 can be removed without removing the engine from the vehicle.
♦ Remove the crankcase protection.
♦ Remove the drain plug and drain the engine oil.
♦ Jack up the engine.
♦ Loosen the mounting bolts, remove the oil sump, remove the sump gasket from the cylinder block
♦ Install the oil sump in reverse order, paying attention to the following recommendations.
♦ Always install a new gasket.
Use AMV 188 001 02 sealant only on the joint surface of the cylinder block, front and rear covers. ♦ Match the gasket mounting holes to the oil pan.
♦ Tighten the bolts in stages, crosswise, tightening torque 15 Nm.
