Oil cooler VR6
The VR6 engines of Volkswagen Transporter T4 use an oil cooler, which is installed on the cylinder block (see Fig. 180). Cooling system hoses are connected to both radiator pipes. By circulating the coolant, the temperature of the engine oil is lowered.

The oil cooler can only be removed by disconnecting the hoses. Before this, it is necessary to drain the liquid from the cooling system. Unscrew the bolt cover from the outside and remove the oil cooler. On each side of the radiator there is an o-ring, which must be changed before installation. Lubricate both O-rings with engine oil when installing the oil cooler. Install the radiator in the correct position and screw on the cap. Tighten the cover, tightening torque 25 Nm. Fasten the hoses, fill the liquid into the cooling system.
