Air conditioner Transporter T4 is a combined cooling and heating system that provides maximum comfort in the cabin at any time of the year.
The T4 air conditioner operates only when the engine is running, when the outside air temperature is above +5ºС and when the fan is turned on with the switch (C).
When the refrigeration unit is turned on, not only the air temperature, but also its humidity decreases in the cabin. Thanks to this, at high humidity, also in the cold season, the well-being of the driver and passengers improves, and fogging of the windows is also prevented. Controls (see Fig. 31)
Controls and operation modes of switches (A), (B), (C), (D), (E) are similar to those described above.
Key (F) - is used to turn on / off the air conditioner.
Key (G) - turns on the air recirculation mode in the cabin.
When turned on, the CL in the key lights up.
After this mode is enabled, the front fan and the interior air supply fan operate in recirculation mode.
To turn off air recirculation, press the same button again.

Economical operation of the T4 air conditioner
When the unit operates in air cooling mode, its compressor is driven by the engine crankshaft, and therefore the use of the air conditioner affects fuel consumption.
In order to reduce the duration of the air conditioning system as much as possible, the following recommendations should be taken into account: If the car has become very hot from the sun, it is recommended to open windows or doors to ventilate the passenger compartment.
If the windows / sunroof are open while driving, it is not recommended to turn on the air conditioner.
Use the interior ventilation system whenever possible.
At high temperatures and high humidity of the outside air, condensation may leak from the evaporator and form puddles under the vehicle.
This is normal and does not indicate a leak in the system. Only handles (D) and (E) can be set to any intermediate position.
If the Volkswagen T4 has not been turned on for a long time, then when it is turned on, an unpleasant odor may appear due to debris on the evaporator.

- If there is a failure in the operation of the air conditioner, this may be caused by the following reasons:
- the outside air temperature is below 5ºС;
- the fuse has blown;
It is recommended to check the fuse and replace it if necessary.
If the reason for the failure to work is not in the fuse, the air conditioner must be turned off and contact the service station. - the air conditioner has temporarily switched off due to too high coolant temperature.
- If the cooling capacity of the unit has decreased, it is necessary to turn off the air conditioner and contact a service station.
