Headrests

The front and rear headrests of the Volkswagen Transporter T4 are also part of the passive safety system and serve to prevent damage to the cervical spine.
The head restraints are adjustable in height and must be adjusted to suit the body type of the person.

Height adjustment

Hold the sides of the head restraint with both hands and slide it up or down.
The greatest safety is achieved when the top edge of the head restraint is at or above eye level.

Installing/removing head restraints

To remove the head restraint, pull it up to the stop, press the button in the direction of the arrow (see Fig. 39) and simultaneously remove the head restraint.
To reinstall the head restraint, insert the head restraint rods into the guide holes until you hear a click.
On certain versions of the car, head restraints are installed that differ from those described above.

Removal / installation of such head restraints is carried out in the following order. Head restraints with spring clips

To remove, it is recommended to use a small screwdriver to pull out or squeeze out the spring clips from the guide rings in the seatback from the sides.
When installing, you must first insert the head restraint, then sink the spring clips so that the flat side of the clips is at the back.
