The left and right front doors of the Volkswagen Transporter T4 are locked and unlocked from the outside with a key.
When unlocking, the lock button is raised; when locking, it is lowered.
The right door can be locked without a key.
To do this, you need to drown the lock button and slam the door. The left door cannot be closed in the manner described above.
This prevents an unpleasant situation when, due to forgetfulness, the key is left in the ignition. From the inside, the locks of all doors are locked by recessing the lock buttons.
If the lock buttons are recessed, the doors cannot be opened from the inside or from the outside.

From the outside, the sliding door can be locked and opened with a key.
The sliding door lock can also be closed without a key.
To do this, you need to drown the lock button and slam the door. From the inside, the lock of the sliding side door of the Transporter T4 is blocked by pressing the lock lock button.
As long as the lock button is depressed, the sliding door cannot be opened from the inside or outside.
While driving, the door of the Transporter T4 must always be closed.
When transporting passengers, the safety button must always be pulled out so that, if necessary, passengers can safely exit and rescuers can enter the car. In the fully open position, the sliding door is held by a latch.
Double doors
From the outside, the double doors can be locked and unlocked with a key.
When unlocking, the lock button moves up; when locking, it moves down. Unlocking

When the latch is cocked (the lever on the rail is folded down), the door handle on the interior side is locked.

On some vehicle versions it is necessary to move the spare wheel holder to the right before opening the double doors.
From the inside, the door is blocked by pushing the lock button (A, see Fig. 9), after which the door cannot be opened either from the inside or from the outside.
♦ To open the door, press the door lock handle in the direction of the arrow (see Fig. 9).
In the open position (approximately 90°) the door is held by a stopper.

When the child safety latch is cocked (the lever on the end of the door is in the lower position, see Fig. 8), the interior door handle is locked.

The left double door can only be opened when the right half of the door is open.
♦ To do this, pull the release lever as far as it will go in the direction of the arrow (see fig. 10).
♦ When closing double doors, it is recommended to close the left door first.
