Climatronic system with separate climate control in the cabin

With this setting, you can control the temperature in the front and rear of the Transporter T4 , with a maximum temperature difference of 3°C.
We do not recommend smoking in the car when the Climatronic system is on, for the same reasons as described above.

When the corresponding keys are pressed, the indications (2), (3), (8), (10) and (11) change to (5), (6) and (7) respectively.
The automatic mode of operation can be adjusted with keys (13) - (18), (21) and (22).

Operation of the Climatronic unit in the front part of the passenger compartment (in the driver's compartment)

Recommended settings for the operation of the unit for all seasons: temperature around 22ºС and the AUTO key pressed.
With this setting, comfortable conditions in the cabin are most quickly achieved.
The location of the nozzles is similar to that described above (see fig. 32).

Using the unit

After switching on the ignition, the unit usually starts to work in automatic mode.
Readings (2), (3), (4), (8), (10) and (11) appear on the indicator panel (see Fig. 33). The unit automatically maintains the set air temperature in the passenger compartment.
To do this, the temperature of the air supplied to the passenger compartment, the fan speed (amount of air supplied) and the distribution of the supplied air to the passenger compartment nozzles are automatically changed.
Automatic adjustment of the unit operation in direct sunlight is provided, so manual adjustment is not needed.
If before turning off the ignition some changes were made to the parameters of the automatic mode of operation of the unit, they are stored in the system memory.

The setting of the "Air recirculation" mode is erased from the memory 20 minutes after the ignition is turned off, the setting of the "Air conditioning off" mode - after 1 hour. Using the installation in automatic mode (AUTO)

The desired temperature in the driver's compartment can be set using the keys (19) and (20) and this parameter is stored in the setting memory.
The value of the set temperature in the cabin can range from +18ºС to +29ºС.
In this range, the temperature is maintained automatically. If the selected temperature is below +18ºС, the display will show “LO”. At temperatures above +29ºС, the inscription "HI" appears. At these temperatures, the plant constantly operates at maximum capacity.
Temperature control is not carried out. When the fan operation mode is changed by one step up or down, the automatic operation mode of the unit is retained.
Under certain conditions, for example, after a cold start of the engine, the air is directed predominantly towards the feet for a few seconds.

This is done intentionally so that the damp air in the system does not fog up the windows. Deviations from the set automatic mode

The operation of the unit in automatic mode creates good conditions for the well-being of the driver and passengers at all times of the year and in almost all cases.
However, sometimes it is necessary to partially change individual functions of the automatic mode;
at the same time, the mode still works automatically: - Using the keys (13) and (14), change the fan speed, and thereby increase or decrease the amount of air supplied to the passenger compartment.
This is indicated on the display by increasing or decreasing the number of lines (3). - By pressing the key (16) the "ECON" mode is switched off;
- the recirculation mode is switched off;
- by directing the air from the nozzles (4) it is possible to clean the windshield and side windows from ice or condensate;
- it is possible to increase the intensity of removal of condensate or ice from the windshield, for example, when new passengers in wet clothes get into the car shortly after the start of movement.
The air recirculation mode is activated by pressing the key (15).
The icon (6) appears on the display. Using the keys (17) and (18) the air flow can be directed either to the upper body or to the legs.
The combination of keys (16) and (17) allows you to split and direct the air flow to the windshield and to the legs.
The combination of keys (17) and (18) allows you to split and direct the air flow to the upper body and to the legs.
Key (25) (ECON) turns off the air conditioning compressor.
In this mode, automatic control of air heating (but not cooling and humidification of the air) takes place, which allows you to quickly achieve and constantly maintain the optimum temperature inside the passenger compartment. Please note that in the "ECON" mode, the desired temperature cannot be lower than the outside temperature.
The desired air temperature can be set using keys (19) and (20).
The combination of ECON and recirculation modes is only possible if you first press the key (15) and then the key (ECON).
By pressing the keys (12), (15) or (16) the "ECON" mode is switched off.
By pressing the key (14) you can turn off the air conditioner.
To do this, keep the key (14) pressed until the inscription "OFF" appears in place of the readings (8). This key should only be used in exceptional cases, for example, in case of malfunction of the installation. When it is no longer necessary to leave the automatic mode, it is imperative to re-enable the automatic mode by pressing the key (9) (AUTO).

Operation of the Climatronic in the passenger compartment

The Climatronic is only active in the passenger compartment in recirculation mode.
There is no outside air supply. Depending on the mode selected for the passenger compartment (keys (13) - (20)) cooled air can enter the passenger compartment through nozzles in the ceiling or heated air through nozzles in the floor (keys (21) - (24)).
The desired temperature in the cabin can be set using the keys (23) and (24) and recorded in the memory of the onboard microprocessor.
In this case, it should be taken into account that the temperature difference in the driver's compartment (pos. 8) and in the cabin (pos. 11) is no more than 3ºС. If, based on the set temperature, the Climatronic control unit determines that interior heating is required, the auxiliary heater is also activated.
Warm air is supplied to the passenger compartment through a nozzle in the floor. If the Climatronic control unit determines that there is a need to cool the passenger compartment, cooled air is supplied to the passenger compartment through nozzles in the roof.
These nozzles can be closed or opened individually, by turning the gratings you can adjust the direction of the air supply.
In cooling mode, at least one nozzle in the ceiling must be open, otherwise the refrigeration unit will be covered with ice.
