automatic transmission

The control system provides various modes of operation of the automatic transmission.
Depending on the actions of the driver or on the driving conditions of the car, either economical is selected, i.e. fuel-saving mode, or active (“semi-sport”) mode. Volkswagen Transporter T4 transmission mode is carried out automatically depending on the nature of the driver's work with the “gas” pedal.
Under normal throttle operation, fuel economy is achieved by upshifting early and downshifting late. The so-called "semi-sport" mode of operation of the transmission is selected when the control of the "gas" pedal is carried out vigorously enough. In this case, it is recommended to press the "gas" pedal smoothly so as not to activate the forced downshift mode provided in the transmission control system without the need. When the "semi-sport" mode is selected, the engine power is fully utilized by some delay in upshifting. Depending on the load, such as when towing a trailer or when driving uphill, a program is automatically selected in order to provide increased traction on the drive wheels by downshifting and thus avoid constant gear changes.
