Removal and installation of engine crankcase protection and radiator displacement

During a number of works (for example, during an engine oil change), it is necessary to remove the crankcase protection of the Volkswagen Transporter T4 or tilt the radiator forward to improve access to certain components. To remove the crankcase protection, unscrew the bolts and nuts shown in fig. 63, unlock the closing lever, slide the plate down and out of the holders. During installation, tighten the bolts and nuts with a torque of 9 Nm.

To tilt the radiator, unscrew the bolts shown in fig. 64. On a turbocharged diesel engine, it is additionally necessary to remove the bar (1) of the air cooler (see Fig. 65), for which it is necessary to unscrew the screws (2). Tilt the radiator forward along with the front panel of the car. Block the lock bracket in the direction of the arrow (Fig. 64).
