Volkswagen all-wheel drive pickup
Volkswagen's management plans to significantly increase the level of sales of light trucks in the near future.
The popular T4 family will be replaced by the T5, which will also include an all-wheel drive pickup. 12 billion DM was invested in the development of the new series - the amount indicates the seriousness of intentions.
Vans, minibuses and various trucks will be produced on the same platform. The following is known about the all-wheel drive pickup truck: the buyer, as always, will be offered several modifications, and the heaviest one will be equipped with dual rear wheels.
There will also be a 5-seater passenger version with two rows of seats and a solid luggage compartment, but so far only a pickup truck with a two-door body or a three-door station wagon based on it is being prepared for production. The T5 family will apparently be fitted with the same engines as the new Volkswagen/Porsche SUV. Light all-wheel drive pickups will be equipped with a transmission borrowed from the Audi Quattro, and something more serious will be prepared for heavy modifications.
