damper position sensor

The damper axis acts on two sensors mounted on its body, which transmit information about the damper position to the microprocessor module.
The first sensor (of the end position) transmits to the microprocessor module information about the closing of the damper, corresponding to the frequency XX of the engine of the Transporter T4 .
The second sensor transmits to the microprocessor module information about the angular position of the damper in the acceleration phase (the damper is open).

Operating principle

The microprocessor module receives two signals from sensors working in parallel:
- "closed": the engine is running at idle or at full load
- "open": the engine is running at partial load.
The microprocessor module, having processed the information, determines whether the engine is under full or partial load.
When the gas pedal is lowered, the limit position sensor transmits information to the microprocessor module, which causes the fuel supply to be cut off.

Full load mixture richness The

full load mixture is richer if the microprocessor module, based on the signals from the sensors, signals an increased engine load.
The fuel supply increases, causing an increase in the duration of the injection. Note: The engine begins to lose power if, as a result of incorrect adjustment, the end position switch is triggered late ("damper closed").
A rich engine power loss can occur if the full load sensor does not turn off ("choke not closed").
The microprocessor module reacts and sends information to the frequency controller XX only when it receives a signal to close the damper.
If the damper is not working properly, this signal is not given and the engine loses power. Possible malfunctions caused by incorrect operation of the damper position sensors:
- Unstable idle speed
- Loss of engine power
