Separation of the engine and gearbox VR6
The gearbox of the Transporter T4 is bolted to the engine, therefore, by unscrewing and removing the mounting bolts, the gearbox can be easily disconnected from the engine, while
making sure that the weight of the gearbox does not fall on the input shaft or clutch disc.
This work is best done by two people, as one person must hold the engine. In engines with automatic transmission, after disconnecting the power unit, the fluid coupling may fall out, so it must be held. Before connecting the engine and gearbox during assembly, coat the clutch release bearing and input shaft splines with a thin layer of grease. Firm V uses G0001000 grease for this purpose. When connecting the gearbox housing to the VR6 engine , it is necessary to check whether the guide bushings have entered the flange of the cylinder block. Bolts M10 and M12 tighten with a tightening torque of 80 Nm.
