Rear suspension

Rear suspension Transporter T4 consists of trailing arms coil springs, hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers and stabilizer.
The wheel hubs are located in the trailing arm bearings. Pay attention to the marking of the coil springs, as they are not the same in all models.
If it is necessary to replace the spring, make sure that the new spring has the same markings as the old one. The stabilizer belongs to the additional equipment, it can be installed during operation.
The suspension design is different for vehicles with drum and disc brakes (see Fig. 400 and 401).

Special tools are used in the work on the rear suspension of the T4. The corresponding figures show the design of the pullers necessary to perform certain operations, and the text provides necessary explanations. Repair operations are described for models with drum brakes, operations for models with rear disc brakes are carried out similarly.
