Thermostat check
All T4 engines described in this manual use a thermostat of a similar design (see Fig. 244).
A simple test can be performed as follows (see Fig. 243).

♦ Use a piece of wire to hang the thermostat into a container of cold water.
♦ Suspend the thermometer into this container in the same way.
♦ Slowly heat the water and visually check if the thermostat begins to open at 85°C.
At a temperature of 105°C, the thermostat must be fully open, while the thermostatic stem must extend at least 7 mm. If the thermostat does not open, it must be replaced. When installing the thermostat, replace all O-rings. Before attaching the hoses, check their condition. It is recommended to use screw clamps of any design.
