When working on the fuel injection system
Never touch the wires of the ignition system while the Volkswagen T4 engine , or when the crankshaft is turning the starter.
Disconnect and connect electrical wires of power supply and ignition systems only when the ignition is off.
If it is necessary to rotate the crankshaft with a starter without starting the engine, it is necessary to remove the high-voltage wire from the ignition coil.
Starting the engine using an external energy source can last no more than one minute, and the maximum voltage should not exceed 16.5V.
When washing the car, the ignition must be turned off.
When towing the vehicle, always unplug the connector from the control unit.
This will protect the ignition system from damage. If, while working on the engine, it is necessary to disconnect the fuel hoses of the petrol injection system, proceed as follows: Before disconnecting the parts of the fuel hose, the connection itself and the area around it must be thoroughly cleaned.
Lay out the removed parts on a clean surface and carefully cover with paper or plastic wrap.
For this purpose, you can not use shabby and fleecy rags. Remove new parts from their original packaging immediately before installation.
If the union nuts of the fuel pipes are unscrewed, do not use compressed air to purge other parts. The Transporter T4 must not be rolled over.
Do not touch the tubes with oily fingers.
Do not bend them during removal. When working on the ignition system
During any work on the ignition system, in order to avoid damage to the system, the following safety rules must be observed:
No pilot lamps must be connected to terminal "1" (ground) of the ignition coil, and control devices and strobe lamps must not be connected to terminal "15".
No capacitors should be connected to pin "1" either. If the central high-voltage wire is removed from the distributor, it must be immediately shorted to ground, otherwise it is unacceptable to rotate the crankshaft with a starter (and during some checks this is necessary).
It is unacceptable to use extraneous energy sources to facilitate starting the machine , because not every rectifier is suitable for this.
If you still have to use an external source, it should last no more than one minute, and the supply voltage should not exceed 16.5V. If the vehicle must be towed due to ignition difficulties, disconnect the microprocessor module connector.
Use high voltage wires and spark plug caps designed for use in electronic ignition systems.
If it is necessary to replace the ignition distributor runner, a new runner marked "R1" must be installed.
