Diesel engine oil pump repair
♦ After the Transporter T4 , both gears can be removed.
If the wear of the gears is visually noticeable, they must be replaced in pairs. ♦ It should be remembered that the gears are installed in the pump housing so that after installation, their marks are visible from the side of the cover.
If the cover shows signs of wear caused by the gears, the cover should be replaced. Loosen the pressure reducing valve seat plug and remove the valve spring and plunger. Check plunger for signs of wear. If damage is found, the pump assembly must be replaced. ♦ After installing the valve, tighten the plug to 40 Nm.
♦ Tighten the pump cover bolts to 10 Nm (fig. 224).
