Removal and installation of Motronic
♦ Remove the spark plug wire guides from the top side of the cylinder head (see Fig. 311). After removing the spark plug cap, the guides can be removed and set aside.

♦ Remove the cover with wires, guides and caps from the ignition distributor (see Fig. 312).

2 - distributor cap
♦ Disconnect the Hall sensor connector located on the side of the distributor.
♦ Set the piston of the first cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke, then, using a scriber, mark the position of the rotor contact on the outer edge of the distributor housing.
To facilitate turning the crankshaft, you can turn out the spark plugs. the Transporter T4 cylinder head by undoing the two mounting bolts .
Bolts with an internal hexagon (“TORX” type) are used for fastening. ♦ Remove the O-ring.
♦ If you have not rotated the crankshaft, the distributor must be installed in the same position.
If you are installing the distributor after an engine overhaul or if the crankshaft has been rotated, then proceed as follows: ♦ Set the piston of the first cylinder to TDC on the compression stroke, i.e.
both valves should be closed (easy to check if the valve cover is removed). The “O” mark on the flywheel matches the mark in the window. With the engine removed from the vehicle, the notch on the flywheel pulley will be in line with the arrow on the protective cover of the camshaft drive.
It is also more convenient when assembling the engine after a major overhaul or other work during which the distributor was removed. The distributor leash is in the correct position if the crankshaft is in the TDC position of the piston of the first cylinder. ♦ Turn the distributor rotor so that its contact is directed to the mark previously made on the edge of the distributor housing.
♦ Install the distributor in the block head and fasten it with two hexagon socket screws.
♦ Connect the connector to the distributor and install the spring clip.
♦ Reinstall the spark plug wire guides on the block head, connect the spark plug caps (replace the spark plugs if removed, in which case it is recommended to check and clean the spark plugs), install the distributor cap.
