Repair of Motronic units

Modern distributors are not repairable, in most cases the distributor just needs to be replaced.

Checking the resistance of the secondary winding of the ignition coil is different from that of the 2.0L engine, it is described below.

♦ Connect one ohmmeter lead to terminal (4, see fig. 314) of the high voltage converter, and connect the other in series first to the cylinder terminals (1) and (6), then to the cylinder terminals (3) and (4), and finally to the cylinder terminals (2) and (5). Normal resistance is 3.6 to 4.4 kΩ. If the measured resistance is not correct, the high voltage converter will have to be replaced.
