vacuum booster
Vacuum booster Transporter T4 cannot be repaired.
Damage to the vacuum booster does not entail a decrease in the effectiveness of the brakes. When braking, you only have to apply more effort to the pedal. In a gasoline engine, the vacuum booster is taken from the intake manifold, in a diesel engine - from a special vacuum pump. The correct operation of the vacuum booster is checked as follows:
Turning off the engine, press the brake pedal several times to completely eliminate the vacuum in the vacuum booster.
Depress the brake pedal with moderate force and start the engine.
If the vacuum booster is working correctly, then the pedal will noticeably “fall” down.
The vacuum booster can be removed by unscrewing the stud nuts from inside the car.
The mounting of the vacuum booster is shown in fig. 447. All models have 9" (229 mm) vacuum boosters. There is a non-return valve in the hose to the vacuum booster. valve with an arrow If you blow air in the opposite direction, the valve will close.
